2016 Year in Review (according to Instagram)

Happy 2017 everyone! Hopefully this year will be better than the last (I know a few of us believe 2016 was absolutely horrid), but maybe some good came out of the past year? Maybe?

For funsies I thought I’d do one of those Best Nine Collages and see what the Internet thought were my best pictorial moments in my life.

The Not-So-Good

Why, oh why, oh why, oh — why did my vote not count in Ohio? I am hoping the battle cry that honors Carrie Fisher (normalize mental illness and its treatment, take life a little less seriously, and most importantly, destroy a fascist regime) will ring in the new year ferociously. In fact, if you are so inclined, you can join the Pussyhat Project and wear your knitted wares with pride. (Why, oh why did I not learn how to knit/crochet/sew?)

Speaking of cats…

The Good

Who doesn’t love Cats On Synthesizers In Space? How can you not like bad-ass Ripley holding a cat over a synthesizer.

The Great

Being the guest composer at the University of Toledo was certainly a huge highlight of 2016. You can read about it here.

The Hopeful

GUYS! The University of Texas Wind Ensemble will be premiering a new work of mine in March 2017. (No pressure, right?) Here is a sketch of the piece in processes, and speaking of this, I should probably get back to work right? Why blog when I should be composing?

Hello folks, and welcome to my blog! I should probably be composing at this moment (or doing something relevant to my professor person day job), but here are my musings about all things musical (and quite possibly cat-related).
